¡Buenos días a todas/os! Espero que estéis pasando una buena semana. Hoy me siento muy entusiasmada, porque tengo un nuevo proyecto entre manos: el cardigan Lizzie. Es un diseño de Georgie Hallan, también conocida como Tikki. La próxima semana le dedicaré un post al completo, así que estad atentas/os si deseais conocerla más.
Como ya sabréis, hay montones y montones de patrones de punto en Ravelry. Teniendo esto en cuenta, es casi un milagro tomar una decisión lógica a la hora de elegir uno, así que yo uso mi intuición. La rebeca Lizzie es uno de esos milagros. Compré el patrón el verano pasado, tras encontrar el blog Seamless Katherine, de Katherine Johnson. Por aquellos entonces me sentía un poco perdida, porque tenía muchos problemas y la mente absorta en ellos. Quería tejer más de lo que ya lo hacía, porque me relajaba, pero era incapaz de encontrar suficiente tiempo. Y allí estaba Katherine, con siete hijos a los que ella misma educaba en casa, tejiendo prendas preciosas, escribiendo un blog inspirador y haciendo estupendas fotografías. Al poco tiempo cerró su blog y desapareció de Internet, que vaya disgusto que me llevé, pero su poder inspirador ya había surtido efecto en mí y empecé a pensar que si yo quería, podría encontrar suficiente tiempo para todo lo que realmente necesitara.
Leí sobre Tikki, una diseñadora sobre todo de prendas de punto para niños, en dicho blog. Y aquí estoy yo ahora, un año después, lista para Lizzie, con una mente más tranquila y mostrando mi gratitud hacia Katherine y hacia todos aquellos blogueros inspiradores que hacen nuestra vida más fácil.
Good morning to everyone! Hope you're having a good week. Today I am really enthusiastic, because a new project is on my needles: Lizzie cardigan. It was designed by Georgie Hallan, as kown as Tikki. Next week I going to dedicate a complete post to her, so stay tuned if you'd like to know more.
As you know, there are lots and lots of knitting patterns on Ravelry. Having said that, it is almost a miracle to make a logical decision when choosing one of them, so I usually use my intuition. Lizzie cardigan is one of those miracles. I bought the pattern last summer, after finding the blog Seamless Katherine, by Katherine Johnson. By then, I felt a bit lost because lots of problems absorbed my mind. I wanted to knit more than I did, because it calmed me down, but I couldn't find enough time. And there was Katherine, with seven homeschooled children, knitting georgeous clothes for them and for her, writing an inspiring blog, and taking wonderful pictures. She closed her blog and vanished from the Internet. I was very upset, but her inspiring power worked on me and made me think that if I wanted, I could find enough time for everything I really needed.
I read about Tikki, a mostly children knitwear designer, on the mentioned blog. And now I am here, a year later, ready for Lizzie, with a more balanced mind and showing my gratitude to Katherine and to all those inspiring bloggers that make our life easier.

Por ahora, lo que más me está gustando es la suavidad del hilo. Está compuesto por 29% lino, 37% algodón y 34% bambú. Es fácil tejer con él porque tiene un buen agarre. Ese ha sido el motivo por el que esta vez estoy usando mis agujas favoritas de metal. Además, me encanta el color, tan dulce y con un toque satinado. Os hablaré más sobre esta marca la semana que viene.
By now, what I most like is the softness of the yarn. It is made of 29% linen, 37% cotton, and 34% bamboo. It is easy to knit with it because it has a good grip. That is the reason why I chose my favourite metallic needles this time. I also love the colour, so sweet and a bit glossy. I will post about its brand on next week.
Otra cosa destacable de este proyecto es el patrón en sí. Está muy bien explicado, especialmente la información sobre la talla. Por el contrario, lo peor ha sido el periodo de muestras :( El patrón requiere dos, una en punto jersey y otra con el patrón de calado. Pero también recomienda tejer, además, ambas muestras en redondo. ¡Y eso casi me mata! Por naturaleza soy bastante paciente, pero esta vez ha sido agotador. Lizzie es una rebeca más bien ajustadita, y no quiero fallar, así que tejí-todas-las-muestras. Ahora, me siento orgullosa de mi autocontrol ;) porque necesité usar unas agujas mayores para el punto jersey en redondo. La experiencia ha sido tan productiva que mañana voy a publicar un tutorial sobre los métodos que he seguido para las muestras en circular.
Another significant aspect of this project is the pattern itself. It is very well explained, specially the information about the size. On the contrary, the worst thing was the gauge swatching period :( The pattern requires two swatches: the stockinette stitch one and the lace pattern one. But it also recommends to knit both swatches in the round, too. That almost killed me! I am a naturally patience person, but this time it was exhausting. Lizzie cardigan is close fitting and I don't want to fail, so I knitted-all-the-swatches. Now, I'm proud of my self-control ;), because I needed to use higher needles in stockinette stitch in the round. Thanks to this productive experience tomorrow I going to post a tutorial about the methods I used for swatching in the round.

- 7 ovillos del hilo Arezzo lin de Hjertegarn, en color lila (344). Este hilo es una mezcla de lino, algodón y bambú. Comprados en Naturalmentelanas.
- Agujas intercambiables ChiaoGoo Twist Red Lace (3,75 mm - 4 mm / US#5 - US#6). Compradas el verano pasado en Die WollBox.
- Aguja especial para trenzas Clover. Compré el set el invierno pasado en Devanalana.
- Patrón, comprado el año pasado en Ravelry.
- Marcadores, para la estructura de las mangas ranglan y para el patrón calado.
- 7 balls of Arezzo lin yarn by Hjertegarn, in lilac colour (344). This yarn is a mix of linen, cotton, and bamboo. I bought them from Naturalmentelanas.
- ChiaoGoo Twist Red Lace interchangeable needles (3,75 mm - 4 mm / US#5 - US#6). I bought them last summer from Die Wollbox.
- Clover cable stitch holder. I bought the set last winter from Devanalana.
- Lizzie pattern. I got on Ravelry last year.
- Stitch markers, for ranglan sleeves structure and for lace pattern.
