El KAL Azalea comenzó el pasado 15 de junio y ha sido organizado por Vegaknits y Siona. El patrón es un diseño de Pam Allen y está tejido con Sparrow de Quince & Co., lino 100% orgánico. Y ahora... ¡Ya tengo mi top Azalea! Listo para llevarlo puesto en este supercaluroso verano. He pasado 6 semanas estupendas y divertidas tejiéndolo, y aquí podéis ver los resultados.
KAL Azalea started last 15th of June and has been organized by Vegaknits and Siona. The pattern was designed by Pam Allen and is knitted with Sparrow from Quince & Co., 100% organic linen. And now... I have my Azalea top! Ready to wear in this super-hot summer. I've spent six weeks knitting it and having great fun. Here you can see the results.
Después de la experiencia puedo decir que...
... lo que más me ha gustado tejer ha sido la parte del calado. Ha sido realmente adictiva y con un punto de meditación (la pura verdad es que soy amante de los calados). Además, he aprendido varios puntos nuevos <3<3<3
... la parte más fácil ha sido la de punto jersey. Normalmente me termino aburriendo con este tipo de punto, pero este patrón está dividido en delantero y espalda, así que al ser vueltas no muy largas, las he podido tejer rápido y sin pensar mucho. Coser las dos partes también me ha gustado.
... lo más difícil del patrón para mí, que soy bastante inexperta en cuestiones estructurales, ha sido levantar los puntos del escote y de las sisas. Necesito practicarlo más, porque me ha llevado mucho tiempo y terminaba un poco harta.

After the experience I can say that...
...what I most liked to knit was the lace pattern. It was really addictive and meditative for me. Ok, I am a lace lover, that's the honest truth. Besides, I have learned some new stitches! <3<3<3
... the easiest part was the stockinette one. I usually end up bored of this, but this pattern is divided in front and back, so I could knit the stockinette area fast and mindlessly. I also like sewing both parts.
... the hardest thing in this pattern for me, an unexperienced structural knitter, was the picking up stage. I need to practise it more and more, because I spent too much painful time with it.

Tejer el top Azalea ha sido una experiencia estupenda, pero también llevarlo puesto. Tengo la sensación de que me queda como un guante, no porque esté perfectamente hecho (la sisa que no he fotografiado no queda tan limpia como esta), sino la maravillosa caída del tejido. Además, es tan fresco y suave que me encanta su tacto, así que definitivamente repetiré con él el próximo verano.
Knitting Azalea was a great experience, but also wearing this tank. I feel like if it fits me like a glove, not because it is perfectly knitted (the not photographed armhole is not as neat as this one), but because of the wonderful draping of the fabric. It is also fresh and smooth. I love feeling linen and I'll definitely repeat with it on next summer.
Ahora, me gustaría hablar sobre cómo combinar el Azalea top. Como queda suelto y hace ondas en la parte de abajo, pienso que con lo que mejor quedaría es con unos vaqueros ajustados o con una falda lápiz. Mientras lo tejía, decidí hacerme unos patalones capri para conjuntarlo. Sé coser desde los 16 años, pero nunca me he hecho unos pantalones. Así que rescaté un antiguo curso de costura que hizo mi madre a distancia en los años 60 y busqué un patrón. ¡Sólo había uno de pantalones! Después de leer las encantadoras y femeninas instrucciones, dibujé y corté el patrón lo mejor que pude. Penny (gata) estuvo muy colaborativa ese día ;) Pero me equivoqué con las medidas de la tela, y compré de menos, de modo que los capris se convirtieron en bermudas de algodón y lino. Son muy simples y fáciles de coser pero, siguiendo las explicaciones de mi madre, añadí un detalle más avanzado en el dobladillo. De modo que si alguna vez quiero doblarlo hacia fuera puedo hacerlo si que se vean las costuras laterales.
Now, I'd like to talk about how to wear Azalea top. It fits loosely with some beautiful undulations on the bottom, so I think it would be perfect with slim jeans or pencil skirt. While I was knitting the tank, I decided to sew a pair of capris. I learnt how to sew when I was 16 years old, but I have never made a pair of trousers. So, I recoverd an old sewing correspondence course my mother took in the 60's and look for a pattern. It only has one women trousers pattern! After reading the lovely and feminine instructions, I did my best with my own sewing pattern. Penny (cat) was very collaborative that day ;) But I got the measurements wrong and bought less fabric than needed. So I ended up making a pair of cotton-linen Bermuda shorts. They are very simple and easy to sew. The only more advanced detail is the hem, that can be cuffed or un-cuffed.
Ahora ya me estoy preparando para un nuevo patrón de punto de verano. Ya estoy en nuestra querida fase de las muestras. Escribiré sobre él la próxima semana, así que ¡estad atentas/os!
